The Sound of Wind Chimes

Wind Chimes.

Several years ago while heading to an appointment, I passed a home with a large tree in the front yard. A portion of the tree hung over into the street — not a significant amount, just enough for a cool effect. The homeowners had a wonderful idea for giving their home some whimsy. They took metal pieces like those hanging-produce baskets, old cast-iron hanging planters, and the like, and hung them all over the tree. Some people felt that it was gaudy. I didn’t. I thought it was a fun idea, as did my husband.

So I took their idea one step further. We have two trees on the side of our house, and during the summer months, I enjoy being out there with the display I have done. What I did was get little tea-light lanterns that I do use at night, birdhouses, hanging planters, and, finally, windchimes.

In total, I believe I have two dozen windchimes hanging out in the trees — a dozen on each. The fun thing is to hear their chimes; they all have a different sound. With my area being fairly breezy, there is an undertone of chimes for most of the day. For me, I find this so magickal and delightful.

What you may or may not know is that just one windchime can help protect your home. The different tones and sounds each chime makes break up heavy harmful energies, so the chimes can be used to protect your home from those unwanted maladies. The other great thing with chime magic is you can charm your chimes for different purposes. Say one is for loving energy, another for blessing, perhaps one for prosperity. Every time they chime, that energy will be released for those things to be brought to you.

You certainly don’t need to have as many chimes as I do; one or two will suffice, and you don’t need to have them all outside, either. Instead, they can be hung inside near an open window or above a door, so every time the door opens, the chime rings. By the way, that is why stores used to have a bell or chime attached to their doors, not just to make the workers aware there were customers in the store.

I hope this gives you some ideas and inspiration to get yourself a chime or two to bring forth some magick of sound. May they sing wonderful things into your life.

Many Blessings,
High Elder Redhawk
