Do you wish to work with the Fae more? Beltaine through Midsummer is a wonderful time to do that. Even though the Fae are active all year round, it is in mid-summer when they seem to be at their most energetic. A wonderful way to start working with them is to invite them into your home or garden.
You can actually invite them into both if you like. First, you need to pick an area that you wish to have just for them. In my garden, I have two spots. The first is under a red maple tree. The other is in an alcove near my back door. One problem you may have with garden areas is that local animals may disturb them. In my case, the neighborhood cats love the area. I’m not sure if the Fae egg the cats on or the other way around. The cats do tend to play with the things I have set up for the Fae.
In my home, I have a shelf that at one time was a window. This is a “Tween Place.” These are places that the Fae hang out and use as portals from their world to ours. For all three places, I have little setups for them. I purchased little Faery kits to place out in the garden. In the one area under the tree, I repurposed a broken flower pot to be a house. Inside, I actually made them a house that sits up on the shelf that is just for them.
To be in good standing with the Fae, you need to give them offerings. Sweets are much appreciated by them: a thimble full of sugar, sugar pearls used to decorate cakes, things like that. Honey is also welcome, as are milk, cream, and sweet butter. Wine and mead are a favorite, as well. The Fae also like shiny things, anything sparkly will attract them. I have also found some items from nature are liked, too. Whatever you choose, you need to make it consistent. If you offend the Fae, they will leave and never return.
If you wish to work with a specific member of the Fae community, you need to do some research on what they like and don’t like. There are some Fae that have high standards and won’t live with filthy people. Some only like certain things as gifts, and some are offended if you give them clothes. Some research will help prevent you from making such faux pas.
After you have set up your area(s) for the Fae, all you need to do is invite them in. Make sure you have an offering out for them; keep their area clean; and in a few days to weeks, you should notice new energy in your home, centered around that place you set up. Once you have some new friends, all you will need to do is start a conversation with them. Talk with them and get to know them. They will not only help you around the house, but they will also help protect it.
If you are interested in the Fae, this is a wonderful way to not just get to know them, but also work with them. This is fun for children of all ages, and if you have any offspring, this is a wonderful project to do with them. Enjoy your time with your newfound friends. I am sure you will have many years of wonderful times with the Fae.
