Garden Planning

While it still may be winter we have the opportunity to be hopeful for the return of spring. What a better way to do that than planning our garden for the new year.

This time of year is full of seed catalogs, the stores even have the spring seeds available. If we are a proactive gardener it would behoove us to plan our gardens now. The sooner you can plan the sooner you can order your seed and less likely to be without due to the possibility of them being sold out.

If you’re someone like me who, in the past has started their own seeds you can get your tomatoes and peppers whatever you wish and you can start them indoors or in a greenhouse when the time is right. Before we order our seeds we do need to plan out the garden. This can be done with grid paper and a copy of last year’s plan which will help you rotate crops. You will also be able to see what didn’t work for you and get a different variety (I personally go for heirloom seeds, you can always save those seeds, hybrids you can’t), perhaps you want to try something totally different. This is the time to plan for that. You may also want to plan for succession planting to maximize your going season also. While you are planning your garden out you can add energy to the plans to help bring forth a good harvest you can also come up with a saying, prayer, sigil, or something to have at the top to help keep that energy going.

If you don’t have space to have a big garden or any place to have a garden you can certainly do pots. I have seen in the cities especially where they have the front of their house filled with pots and that is their garden. Even with this type of gardening you still need to plan out and rotate crops as well. Plus you will need to come up with a fertilising plan. The best way would be to add compost to the pots as you would your garden to keep that soil filled with nutrients for the plants.

Of course, after you have your plans figured out you can order your seeds and when those packages start arriving you get the sense of spring and can’t wait until the time to start planting. If it’s just getting the seeds started or actually planting outside.

May your garden grow fast and strong with a harvest of more than you could possibly use.

Until next time may you have a wonderfully magickal day.
